... hard). The highlight was a cable car ride up a mountain to a place where the view was fantastic and there was a hot, hotspring that we could soak our feet in until they turned bright red!

They left us at the home of missionaries who took care of us till we got back on the bullet train and headed for Nagano to visit more missionaries, where we have seen some of their work and lives and enjoyed another visit to another onsen (hot springs bath).

... quite a sight; very imposing yet strangely peaceful. We are finding everything very easy, as the people are so incredibly friendly and always happy to help even if they don't speak any English and we just say "thank you, thank you" repeatedly! ... our hotal had a heated seat (Score!). There are slippers for walking around the hotel, slippers for the bathroom, and clunky wooden flip flops used for visiting the public baths. It takes a lot of work remembering to have the right foot wear in the right place, so much that I accidentally ended up hoarding slippers in my room because I kept forgetting to use them. During the meal we were kindly given a free dish, pickled cabbage in soy sauce with bonito flakes on top. We did not particularly like the dish but appreciated the kindness of the staff to provide the disk on the house.
