... was some unflattering graffiti on walls in the town. In all honesty, the place isn't ideal for a rest day as there are some steep inclines to deal with to visit the Protestant Cathedral - protestantism is the major Christian tradition in th is Canton - and other old town sites.

The only thing they want from you as you leave is a promise to send them a postcard from Rome at the end of the journey. The number of postcards from Rome in those guest books shows not just how many pilgrims successfully make it to the Eternal City, but how many do remember the very real practical help given to them along The Way that made it all possible.

... mix with the milky green water in the Rhone. There were also twigs and logs zooming down the river! We passed through orchards and vineyards, then an industrial area. We have been watching the valley gradually grow wider over the last day or so since Ernen. We know it won't be far now before the river becomes a lake - lake Leman! For each basic accommodation, there has been at least the same number of high quality places to stay. Airbnb and Booking.com have assisted me greatly, either directly or through the intervention of my emergency travel team in Eynsham, Oxfordshire.

... so far and climbed to 2630m ( about 100m higher than previously) as part of a 6 hour walk. Just so long as he takes the low road with me tomorrow! We are now over half way with 4 more days of walking and I am even beginning to feel fit.
