... and yes, the mountains are impressive.
As we didn't want to take Frankie too high into the alps, we chose a campsite at Lausanne on Lake Geneva. It is known as Lac Leman by the locals. The first day we went to the lake to have a look. The water was clear, blue and very clean. Apparently it has not always been like it and in the 1960's it was too polluted to swim in. When you stay ...

... Chateau Chillon where the Chatswood Wind Orchestra was to perform.

This amazing castle was built around the 11th Century on an island which it now completely covers and which was originally like a very large rock just off the main shore. There was a ...

... Trail, nothing else would compare. But we needn't have worried as this is more incredible than anything we could ever have imagined. And very far from a walk in the park! Our knees and calves and toes scream in protest! Such things we ask of our bodies as we pound along down and down and down and down, for hours at a time!

Today we started out walking along a cow pasture, the trail climbing steeply on the side of the mountain. Here the cows are all wearing ...

Beautiful glacial lake nestled in the mountains

It was a relaxing walk down the Val Ferret to Champex-Lac though we did have to climb a quick 400m elevation at the end of the day. The walk was through several villages with cattle sheds and houses from the mid 1800's. all the timber is stained dark brown and obviously weathers well in the cold climate. We had a rest day today, I stayed by the lake and did a tour of WW2 tunnels, but Greg felt the walk hasn't been ...
