This trip has brought pretty much all what has to be experienced in a worldtrip. And it is eventually an example, that anybody can do anything, or can go anywhere, if one just believe in it.
But a journey like this would never be possible without help of others. And therefore

... weren't too interested so they took Lincoln (who couldn't go with us) and we went to have a look. It was a rewarding visit. It is amazing to think how long ago some of those books and transcripts were written, and how well cared for they must be to remain in excellent condition. The library itself is breathtaking, with leather bound books lining the shelves, large windows (no doubt filtered), elaborate woodwork and staircases, and a muraled ceiling ...
St. Gallen, St. Gallen, Switzerland travelingdivaJust a day trip to see this old city. Lots of brightly painted buildings with ornate oriel windows. Most of the windows were carved with scenes or fancy designs, sometimes painted, sometimes both. Lots of fountains and statues. Found a chocolate shop and pigged out.
Schaffhausen, Schaffhausen, Switzerland danandroz... railway to the lake shore and showed L our town of Moos across the lake. We noticed on the rocky shore some piles of stones balancing apparently without cement. And they were. The locals created their works of art on the shore and left them standing until nature took over and blew them down. What surprised me was that there were so many still standing. They would not last five minutes in Cronulla ...
Radolfzell, Germany brianc... the mentality of 'birdwatchers'. What is it they are hoping to see that has not already been noted over centuries of bird watching. Methinks 'tis a hobby like fishing and golfing. An excuse to get out of the house and away from the wife and kids!] Tied up at the jetty were two solar boats. A pontoon like construction with solar panels atop. I have yet to see one in action so have yet to work out how they propelled themselves through the water. There was no sign ...
Moos am Bodensee, Germany brianc... there was no shortage of tourist buses around Bodensee. We found the library in the old Osterreich Schloss next door to the Rathaus and they had a good selection not only of English books but of music CD's. We walked out with a bag full of both thanks to U's library card. However the CD player in the house did not work at all well. The laser arm is skipping something dreadful. We used the DVD player to play CDs in the end. The Internet connection was ...
Radolfzell am Bodensee, Germany brianc... and lunch for themselves followed by afternoon tea and cake. But no evening meal as we were to find out that night. We took the car back to the Europcar depot in Konstance. H and I in the Opel whilst Anne and U took the lead in their Peugot which was to be ours for the next two months. No problems there so we all piled into the Peugot and motored back to Radolfzell where we parked in a yard ...
Radolfzell am Bodensee, Germany brianc... were filling up as soon as they docked. I am not sure where they cruised to because the lake was not very big and the shoreline appeared to be mostly trees...not a beach or jetty in view across the placid waters. The highlight of our stroll around the shoreline had to be the cuckoo clock emporium which had not only said noisy time pieces for sale but also some magnificent grandfather clocks with modern accurate mechanisms and olde worlde clock faces. All those ...
