We went on a gondola ride which was so peaceful and beautiful. The gondaliers are very good at navigating the narrow canals and low bridges and each other. People grow flowers and herbs and trees on their balconies because they don't have gardens. It's not a great place to grow up if you're a kid because there's nowhere to ride your scooter or play football (unless you go by boat to the park island)!

... a large lake. The signs said 2 hours back to Engelberg... so I decided to hike down the mountain. A rough and rocky trip, with nothing but grand views and herds of cows to keep me company. as I drew to 30 mins from town I ran into some others heading up the hill.
