    ... The houses/buildings were also very different to France with the second story being wider than the first, giving the houses a top heavy sort of look. As we were winding up the mountains it just kept getting better! When we arrived at Engelberg, we headed straight to our accommodation. The view from our windows were spectacular. We could see snow-capped mountains from our room while it was over 30 degrees outside still.

    ... summit, the crisp mountain air and warming sun felt nice. every direction, rolling mountains covered in snow dropping to green valleys filled with small flowering plants as far as the eye could see. At the top I enjoyed a walk over a suspension bridge between two peaks and a trek through an ice tunnel filled with sculptures. After some ice cream (swiss choc of course) I returned to the bottom level ...

    ... After dinner many of us headed out into the snow as the excitement was too much to handle. We stood, we threw some snow balls, we shivered and we laughed, all because we could. It was an amazing place to be and was living up to the expectations we had for Switzerland.

    ... a real alpine bunny and had a lot of money both would be great on such a perfect day as we had.

    When we had been up there an hour we all got asked to move back off the outside platform as a helicopter was landing to perform an emergency rescue. How thrilling and chilling at the same time.     ... down at the base station in Engelberg, where we farewelled our guide Susanne & caught the train back to Lucerne.

    Took advantage of some free time to walk around this beautiful town. Despite the inclement weather, walked along the waterfront & caught the funicular up to the Montana - fabulous art deco hotel with great view over the lake, just a bit too far out of town to stay.
