The shore excursion from our ship to the Venetian islands of Murano and Burano was nothing short of FANTASTICO! We arrived at the Murano glass-making factory to watch these fine craftsmen demonstrate their work of turning a mixture of fine sand and other chemicals into fine glass creations through a combination of skillful heating and sculpting. …

... off. Tash being the queen of subtlety was on lookout, and promptly screamed that our tour guide and bus driver were coming, which I'm sure all of Venice heard. We then responded to her screeching by bolting away and looking completely guilty. Once they caught up to us and said they didn't care what we were up to, just be on the bus by 5:30, the retrieval of the poster continued. ... interesting walk.

Ended up on the Fondamente Nova where you could see some of the other islands. Walked to the end where you could see the channel boats used to head out to the other islands. Evidently it ...

... rain to swap out the visa's and try again. We got our tickets, jumped on the "water bus" and then the boat broke down! A new boat came and got us and we carried on our way. We went to Murano Island which is where they make the famous Murano glass, and then went to Burano island which has the most colourful houses. It was a really cool place and im glad we had finally made it out there. On our train to Venice we sat across from some guys from California who suggested a "take ...

      Day two in Venice

A travel blog entry by jrpeacock on Jul 14, 2013

... the most expensive city in Italy you would expect it to be more well kept. There was a lot of graffiti and piles of rubbish here and there with few bins. I am not sure how the sewage system works in Venice (surely it can't be underground?!) but the smell of it followed closely a few times! The gondola ride was less relaxing and luxurious than I had hoped. I felt a bit like cattle as we bought a ticket, followed a lady with a paddle in the air and were ...
