The bullet train whisked us from Tokyo to Nagano in ninety minutes. There we transferred to the local train for the 45 minute trip to Yudanaku. The trip up into the foothills was beautiful, rising through lush farmland of vineyard and orchards. The minibus took us the five minutes from the station to the ryokan. By this point the boys were exhausted having been up since 2:30 ...
... so I was able to climb about 8 hours round trip in one solid day of hiking. It was an amazing hike overall.
I tend to like all the areas I travel and am not too picky so it might be repetitive, but I can't stress enough how awesome Japan was. Only downfall is that its a very expensive country, but I guess you get what you pay for.
