... before, a bear destroyed half of the hives in search of a tasty meal a la Winnie the Pooh. The bees were understandably still distraught, but the beekeeper was still able to calm them enough with the smoker in order to show us the honeycombs. Next up, we learned how they process the honey to sell. The best part was the taste test that came last! I walked away with 7 jars of honey (okay, well, 4 were for friends at work).

Back in sulmona. Car now getting repaired so with no car decided to go walkabout for a few days while weather hot. Thinking of going upto top of mountain tomorrow.... That will be an adventure...... ... dad was a POW in this camp - he was definitely at Campo 57 near Udine, and many of the Australian POWs at Udine had been transported there via Sulmona. We had dinner in a small trattoria in the town centre, and then did a last lap of the town before packing our bags for Atrani.
