... on to Slovenia pretty quickly. And it was a great decision as we snaked our way through the mountains, the van coping admirably, with a new stunning vista around each corner. We headed to Bled and a campsite on the lake, but an avalanche of tourists for the Bled festival meant that it was completely full. In fact apart from the stunning location, the campsite didn't seem our bag anyway, so we went and found camping Sobec which was perfect, and it was time to chill and catch up on some ...

... friends and enjoy a little beach time.

Just got the news that my niece in Italy had her baby today, so lots of celebrations going on. We're planning to return to Germany and Austria next year, and a side trip to Italy will be in order. We're hoping to get a longer visa for me next March from the German Consulate, so we won't run up against the problem again.

... as the walls climb up and around the hill. A defensive position par excellence. Hochosterwitz has never been conquered.
It's late afternoon when we arrive so we check out the opening times and enquire about camping nearby. We are directed to Langsee, a very popular swimming lake about 5km from the castle. It's time to break out the camping gear again.

... like... ? Maybe the siren is to inform everybody that the sun has come out! We took advantage of the amazing weather and went to Wörthersee for a swim in the lake. The water was so clear we could see fish swimming below the surface - apparently the water is clean enough to drink! It was a beautiful temperature too, 23 degrees according to the sign at the swimming area. Day 5 of our Klagenfurt adventure was the big day - Tina and Helge's wedding day. We woke ...

First take a three stage cable driven trains up an incredibly steep slope following a hydroelectric dam pipeline, then a tiny train through a tunnel under the mountain.
