Had a good trip yesterday, the majority of it was on the A75 which is dual carriageway, unfortunately using local roads would have taken far too long. The road was fairly quiet but as the altitude increased so did the thickness of fog which we were in for about 30 miles then we were back in brilliant sunshine. Looking out of the van window now the sunshine is about to continue today.

From Girona we took a secondary road to Figueres, through pleasant farming country with views of some of the smaller Pyrenees outliers. Figueres is the birthplace of artist Salvador Dali and the place where he established his famous theatre museum. He set this up between 1961-74 in a series of grand buildings that had been semi-ruined in the Civil War. It was amazing to turn into the street and see the main big pink ...

We walked the narrow cobblestone lanes, hemmed in by formidable ramparts. Human spirit was confined quite literally. We had intended to go out in the evening for tapas but the weight of travel and history (and our good lunch) depleted our resolve and we faded out early in Girona!
