... actually supposed to take it upon ourselves to use their washers. I tell the lady that we speak a little bit of spanish and that we obviously want to clean our clothes. She smiles and seems to think that that is a fine proposition. Meanwhile on five minute intervals the old man opens the washers and pokes our clothes with a big stick. God knows why he was doing this but apparently it was important to do. Next up comes the drying ...
Sevilla, Spain sant2003... reminded me of the feeling I get when I am at Taos Pueblo, how humbling and greatful I am for the beauty of this world....Sevilla was truly amazing...the Ítalicá was an ancient Roman city built atop a hill with one of the largest ancient amphitheaters you could imagine!!!! Larger than three high school gyms and a football field put together! The Real Alcazar was built before 700 AD. The Moors, the Visigoths, the Catholics and later ...
Sevilla, Spain acota_99... I was with knew how to get there so I just tagged along. We arrived about 15 minutes late, but we were still able to take our interviews. We were supposed to be back at 8pm to go out for tapas with the group, but I had to go home first and make sure I would be able to get back in later, since I didn't have a key yet and my cell phone battery was dead, so my brand new Spanish cell phone number was useless. So I headed back. I followed my instincts, taking the same bridge I had crossed on ...
Sevilla, Spain catedoyle... I stuck with a couple girls on my flight to navigate the airport. The airport is huge! We took a shuttle to the next terminal that we needed to go to and I'm sure we drove like 10 miles in the shuttle to get there. The terminal was deserted and 40 mins before our flight was supposed to take off, they still hadn't posted our gate so at that point, we were worried. We went to the Iberia desk and anairport ...
Seville, Andalusia, Spain and Canary Islands mingozingo... at a few tapas bars, sampled some local desserts and promised each other we would return to Spain again soon! She Said: I have been adjusting to life on the road rather slowly. The realization that we are really gone for a whole year has finally set in, and sometimes I wonder secretly to myself (not secret anymore!) "What in the hell are we doing??" I had a few teary nights in Portugal and in Seville thinking about the things I was missing back home (people's birthdays, a work ...
Seville, Spain globedeckerWell as all good things (and things were ready to pass) must end so has Sevilla. We gave our presentations yesterday for the first half of studio finishing up a major part of the summer. Roughly 38 days into this trip already, I miss a lot of the things from home but yet I'm excited about all ...
Sevilla, Spain, Spain lkjr77Not much to write about, we went to a photo exhibit tonight. Was definetly interesting. The exhibition wasn't anything interesting you'd see normally but yet it was 3 photos on a panel. First of a real estate firm, second a family, and third the house they bought. Kind of strange. Probably had 30 of these, with free beer / wine, and snacks (cheese, olives, cracker things, sasauge, etc). Snapped a couple pics of the cool bridges here in town finally.
Sevilla, Spain lkjr77... went was because it is located in the Royal Chapel of the cathedral. Other than that we took a walking tour of our project site and surrounding areas then came back for lunch. Which usually ends up in a 2-3 hr nap after lunch. I really like those. Otherwise not much exciting to write about, things are clicking along as they should I guess. No problem, hope everyone at home is doing well.
