... go into a shoe store.
The best part about my room was it had a huge TV, there was about 8 blankets on the bed, Free WiFi, and the bathroom was right across the hall. On the downside I needed the 8 blankets because the place was like a freezer, it took 5 minutes for the water to warm up in the shower, and breakfast was not included. All the other Hostels were cheaper and breakfast was included, but we were paying for convenience because ...
... by the hired remise who had my name on a sign and he took us first to Katherine´s house to pick up Maries extra bag and then took us to the big bus terminal. Argerntina knows how to do buses, this station was pretty big and had all kinds of busses running in and out constantly. We had three hours to kill so we walked around Buenos Aires a bit close to the bus station, it was pretty hot since we had our fully loaded ...
San Carlos de Bariloche, Argentina mlowe01... there is just one hotel and it is so peaceful and beautiful... heaven would be one word to describe it. San Martin de Los Andes: We ...
Bariloche, Argentina stevemartina... you found yourself studying the road ahead, watching for potholes and local fauna and trying to predict the driver's route...and when the vehicle was really thrown around...asking yourself the question: would I have managed to avoid that pothole? The road trip would not have been half as exciting had it not been for the tough roads. The Patagonian scenery throughout was spectacular as we drove by lakes, river, mountains, glaciers, forests (dead and alive) and small ...

Bariloche, Argentina euniceandbyoung... trip and I am glad to finally meet her in person. The car rental company is supposed to be here at the airport, but they are not. Anna contacts them and finds there is a mixup; she coordinates a remise to take us to Posada Los Juncos where we are staying the night and in about one hour the car rental company will deliver our car there. We are thankful that Anna has greeted us and smoothed things out for us! We agree that Anna and her husband ...
Bariloche, Argentina journeyer... of times and certainly gave the black pudding a good attempt! Steak still wasn´t up to the epic reputation that we´ve been expecting from Argentina, but this is more likely due to an industrial action strike at the moment of the farmers, reacting to raised export taxes by the government here. So apparently, amongst other farmer produce, meat production has halted completely. Even so, we´ve come to realise (yet again), how spoilt we are with the quality ...
San Carlos de Bariloche, Argentina nybridge... Sunday family barbecues are the most cultural event that we have observed, parks and campgrounds come alive with family's visiting, playing futbol, cooking and eating together. A ritual so rich and such a great part of who they are, these, Argentinos and Chileanos. We feel honored to have experienced these traditions on both sides of the border. In talking about culture I cannot underestimate the ritual of the Mate, of which we as well have adopted in a small way for our afternoon ...
San Carlos de Bariloche, Argentina ddgfraser... a boat out from Lago Frias at 11am. The LP puts the hike from the camp-site at 3-and-a-quarter to 4-and-a-half hours, and the official map says 5 hours. The problem being that it does not get light until around 7am in Argentina. We got up at 5.30 anyway and waited poised like sprinters for it to get light enough to hike. We hoped maybe 6.30. In the end we set off in deep gloom at 6.55 using headlights and risking our ankles as we ...
San Carlos de Bariloche, Argentina mlcRuta 40 in Argentina is a famous road that stretches from El Calafate up to San Carlos de Bariloche. Ask me why it is famous...go ahead. you really want to know?? Okay, I will share the secret...shhh, come close....it is a 30 hour bus ride that is about 10 to 20% paved (maybe) and goes across some of the most desolate, boring landscape that I have seen. I will go out on a limb and say that it is more boring than driving across Texas. Now you are saying that I am on vacation ...
