A Wonderland for Walkers

... meet up, we headed for the high-speed ICE train of the Deutsche Bahn that would get us to Frankfurt in no time at all.

Pam and Glenn Said:

We both enjoyed this medieval town dating back to 1071. We walked the old town within the walls and saw vistas of the town from the old castle. We enjoyed great espresso, one of Chad’s favorites at a little café. We now get to ride the DB train to Frankfurt.

Nuremburg and Glass Blowing Excursions

... t get to talk to family or friends much so I have no idea what is going on back home.

But it really helps when I get postcards and emails from home. Even small comments on my blog (thank you Mitch) help. I want to take this time to thank those of you who have sent me cards or postcards in the mail, they are making my walls, as well as my smile, so much brighter. Also, thank you to those that send me emails, those always help and put a smile on my face. But enough of this ...

A Quiet Sunday

... and took buses to Nuremberg. We visited the Zeppelin Field where the big Nazi Rallies were held and the Hall of Justice where the Nuremberg Trials took place. Bought a souvenir pin at Market Square and had cokes at a bistro while waiting for the bus to take us back to the ship.

Go Icetigers Go!

... There was even an ex hab on the team (Andre Nasredine) who scored a goal for us! To make the night even better we won 6-2 with some awesome goals and awesome saves!

Very happy with our decision to return to Nuremburg for the hockey game we left the following morning for Vienna. It was a long trip so we cut it in half and spent a night in Linz, Austria. Another gorgeous place to pass right on through!

Beware the falling Acorns!

... has to offer. We bought a spatula (scrambled eggs) and some fruits!

So we have had brautwurst and currywurst and everywurst possible in the past few days! We decided to splurge and went to a snazzy Chinese restaurant for supper! This is only worth mentioning because I ate the biggest most delicious eggroll I have ever had ever!

We will be coming back to Nuremberg but for now on to Stuttgart!!!!

Finally Nuremberg!

I caught the train from Eisenach which required two connections. Unfortunately they changed the platform that the train was to arrive on without warning me so I missed it and caught the wrong train. Thus I finally got to Nuremberg an hour and a half later (1700) then I intended. So I have to see what I want to see tomorrow. I feel like I have been riding and jumping from train to train all day. Nuremberg is more interesting than I thought it would be. It has ...

I'm tired of train travel

... Then he dropped a thimble-full, which was even louder. And then he dropped a whole cup, which was really loud. It took quite a while, though, for the water to reach the bottom. We also got to see some candles lowered all the way to the bottom, and the guide held a mirror pointed toward the bottom so that the reflected light let us see the water at the bottom. The candles were quite small by the time they finally reached the bottom.

The castle was the last thing we ...

Nuremburg, briefly.

... fine view of the entire town, and we took many more pictures. I spotted the airport I would be leaving from in just 2 days, and figured the subway ride out to it wouldn't take long. Next to the tower was the well building. We got to look down the 140 meter deep well, as the tour guide poured some water in it, and it took 5 or 6 seconds for it to hit bottom. Then, he lowered down a metal tray with four large candels on it and used a mirror to direct sunlight ...

Christmas Festivals Begin

... christmas’ed out! In the meantime it is wonderful, although I can’t help missing friends and family a little bit.

Late in the evening we go out to another local hangout where another K grad, Pete, is visiting from where he lives in Bonn. This country is crawling with Kalamazoo people and I feel right at home bringing up some old K stories and drinking some local Erlanger bier.

In the morning I grab the cheapest train back ...
