Namner Crossing, Near S.R. Hospital Agra, Uttar Pradesh, India
The day we went to agra started off brilliantly. We had an early train which was just over 2 hours long, but was a bargain at about a fiver each as we were brought mineral water, tea and biscuits, breakfast (bread and butter, spicy soup which was nice and some donut/mashed potato combo which wasn't so nice). We got to agra, found a cheap hotel that looked a bit of a dive but was ok, had a bit of a kip then went to the taj mahal, in the back of the only one legged tuk tuk driver around's tuk t...
Agra, Uttar Pradesh, India mswinburn... on the stage whilst everyone else danced and ate huge amounts of food (no booze) - they didn't know 1/2 the people there (that's the way it is apparently) but the 14 of us stood out a bit more than the other freeloaders and we became a bit of a star attraction, I think we got more attention than the bride & groom.
I'm farily sure us being there added some quedos for the family as the father of the bride was ...
... built by that maharaja as a dedication of his love to his deceased wife. The first bit I hadn't heard before was how said wife was in fact his third, making me wonder if his first two were a bit peeved about it (granted they might have been deceased by this time as well, but if he expected his beloved to appreciate his gesture in the afterlife, then certainly his scorned could be equally miffed about it). The other bit is that, after completing the ...

I always feel so bad when I get into a cycle rickshaw...watching someone work so hard to take me somewhere, so I don't have to walk. But as Joel tells me, we, tourists are their source of income. And its true, they beg to take us around, and we always tip!!

Agra, Uttar Pradesh, India agjenciaemagic... set off on the elephant safari.
riding an elephant is fun for about twenty minutes. each elephant has a square platform stapped to its back, with a post coming out of each corner about eighteen inches tall, connected with each other by small railings. four people have to fit on this platform, each with a leg either side of the post, and if you shuffle right up to the edge, there is just about enough room for all of you. the novelty of riding the world's biggest land mammal wears ...
... br>There are a number of buildings within the Fatehpur Sikri complex. Each of the small palaces in Fatehpur Sikri has a specific purpose and generally faces a courtyard. Diwan-I-Aam (Hall of Public Audience) is an enclosed space surrounded by colonnades and has a large open area where petitioners and courtiers once stood in attendance. On the western face of this building is the pavilion where the emperor sat in honor surrounded by his courtiers. The ...

We spent almost 3 hours there and by the time we were leaving there were hundreds of tourists everywhere so people trying to get un interrupted photos had real difficulty. We returned to the hotel until check out time and spent the rest of the day chilling out in an internet cafe before going to the train station to travel to Udaipur

Once we got over the initial race to take silly pics and Dianna replicas we sat on the cold marble platform infront of the Taj and just stared. Its was a great morning that I will never forget we hope you enjoy the pictures ;0)
... to Agra is looooooooooooong. We left at 7:30am and arrived somewhere between 1-2pm.
The ride was very interesting however, the traffic is INSANE. There's no such thing as a lane.
People honk to get you to move over or just cause so there's constant "honk honk HONK HONK HOOOOOOOOOOONK!" sometimes I think they just like to honk for fun. Interestingly, honking is a ...
