... hello in their language & then ask them if they speak English & for directions. I may not read maps but Grant doesn't like asking for directions. After two underground trains we make our way into the edge of the Garten with further directions from a tourist. It's beautiful, green, a fast running river goes through it & bridges. ... trap. The real checkpoint booth is in a museum, and the soldiers stationed outside of it are actually paid actors. On top of this, you have to pay to get a picture with them. Ya, right! According to Polly, these actors are soldiers by day and then strippers at night. I don't know about Karliana, but I think I'd rather see them at night and get a picture for free. ... to choose a ride, I chose a roller coaster. That also was awesome!! And Katie was last to choose, she of course choose the ride I am so so scared of and never ever go on..the tower of terror. Of course I couldn't say I wouldn't go on it so in line I was freaking out!! Turns out Katie was scared now too! haha. We rode it and we survived. After all this it was finally time to head home and get some sleep before day two tomorrow!

... the train because the North part of the city's S-bahn was shut down. We had to catch the city bus over to the beergarten. The bus driver was so nice, and dropped us off right by it. We were there for a couple hours, then decided to catch a cab back to the hotel. The one thing I love about Munich is everyone is always outdoors, riding their bikes everywhere, walking their dogs, taking there kids to the gar tens. It seems like a great place to raise a family. ...

Bavaria here we come!

... think I could do better. I have good intentions, then get completely tongue-tied! Or is it stage fright? Many speak at least a little English, but we manage. Dan is great at sign language and just talking louder! Not sure it it helps much! We clearly stick out with our lack of language skills.... need to work on that!
