Suddenly you are his best friend, and he thanks you with a huge delighted smile and handshake as you leave the shop or restaurant. We were glad to be back in the old city which is more peaceful and the police presence is almost non-existent even through there are still lots of tourists and cultural activities taking place. We see the more devout muslim families setting up their picnic blankets and food in preparation for the end of the daily Ramadan fast at sunset. At the hotel, we sit on the rooftop for our sunset cocktails and listen to the city wide call to prayer sent out on speaker from all the mosques, a very unique ...
