They were originally used for fire prevention and not sewerage (apparently there was a hefty fine if they were misused) and have remained and been renovated as a feature of the Town, another feature is the use of pebble mosaics set into the cobbles. These could be about the shop behind them, emblems or merely decoration but were very attractive. I certainly shall not miss the cobbled streets - murder on the feet!

Freitag war nicht etwa etwas Freizeit angesagt, neeeeeeiiiin wir sind im strömenden Regen auf Schnitzeljagd gegangen. Während vorher sich die Sportarten und damit wenigstens Schuhe, Hosen und Shirts abwechseln konnten, hatten wir nun 2x wandern hintereinander.
