    ... beams on the ceilings. It also had aircon, which meant we slept comfortably. Spent the afternoon walking around the walls and streets. It's a really pretty village and well worth a stop. Interestingly, there's a bas relief of a town hero on the main gate, thumbing his nose and baring his buttocks at the enemy. Month Python obviously didn't come up with the idea.     ... of old concrete bunkers and shelters here and of course cemeteries. Beautiful area, in the thick forest. Pictures at the site show how bare it was after a few years of war though.     ... for miles had a full cop car. Had a leisurely afternoon in Eguisheim, then an Alsacienne meal. R had steak and chips and salad, me choucroute, which is sausages, Kessler chop, sauerkraut, and a 15 mm thick slab of bacon. Heaven. Had to cut short our drive around the Vosges today because of all the security activity, so will try to do a bit more tomorrow. We'll see how the weather holds ...

    ... and headed back to our accommodation. Tomorrow we will look at the town more and drive around the area a bit. One thing this town is famous for also, is its white storks. They breed here, and there are huge nests on the top of many of the highest buildings. At the moment the chicks are quite big, so easy to see.     ... to have some desert to stay indoors a bit longer. Ric and Sue shred an entire of escargot and then had lovely meal followed by ice cream. The flavour it still yet unknown as we just pointed and hoped.
