... and even gasthofs is entirely older American (english) hit songs. We even got to watch the Voice in German and every young contestant sang slightly old tunes in english - things have certainly changed!!
We got our bearings and did a walking tour of the downtown area and as far as our first two residences in Lahr. Of course we wandered by the "Horse" and have a picture for you ...
... we managed to find a comfortable downtown hotel (don't remember it). We stepped out for some food, I had goulash soup and MJ had flammenkucheen. We shared a nice big salad. Tomorrow when we can see what is what we will do some exploring and capture the sights. We will of course report on the old stomping grounds!!!!

On day 6 we woke up on our lovely spot near the small channel. Unfortunately there are no photos of the tent at the channel.
We quickly found out what the cause of this strange woodpeckery sound at night was. A woodpecker. This thing probably ate the wrong berries before his nightly freak out.
After a quick breakfast with a small package of pain au chocolat (only 8 pieces, inhaled ...
... br> even have natural hot springs and outdoor spas. You can see these,
called Bachle, in one of the pictures. We never did figure out where all
of the people were that allegedly had all of the hotels in Freiburg
booked over the weekend. Could have been they were in church, unlike us
heathens. So we weren't extremely impressed with Freiburg, and soon
headed back north to drive the Schwarzwaldhochstrasse (or the Black
Forest scenic route) on ...
... I have had, Sean had a grandmas special stew. We decided to tackle desserts this evening I had vacherin with layers of fruit sorbet and ice cream, wedged between meringue layers and Sean had a creme brûlée.

Well tomorrow off to Chamonix the weather is meant to be turning for the worse, with thunder storms and rain, so there may be a chance we don't make the top of the alps ...
