Holla everyone, Joey and i are still in cusco. Today we did a day trip to the sacred valley to see some ruins. It is amazing that these little Incas can build such large structures. We had an English speaking tour guide so we understood about 50% of what he was saying. We made friends with a french Canadian who introduced us to an alternative trail that leads to Manchu pitch. We decided to do it. We are going to leave our hostel at 7am tomorrow and for 3 nights and four days hike up and down ...

Ive been having spanish classes at wiracocha spanish school in san blas which is very good, met some cool people including someone with a pilots licence who served in iraq and an insane student from cardiff uni. Good times. I was going to do a trek to machu picchu but its hard to even walk upstairs here so that is now going to happen somewhere breezy low and flat. I love cuzco but im very restless ...

Cusco, Peru imuppetA ten hour bus ride took me from Cusco to Arequipa, Peru. If you are taller than 5 feet, I highly recommend not taking such a long bus ride with Cromotex. This was by far the most uncomfortable bus ride I have been on during the whole trip. There was absolutely no place for my legs. It's times like these it would be convenient to have detachable legs so you can just store them neatly under your chair. I arrived in Arequipa around 5am and was immediately met with the usual taxi/hotel peddlars....
Arequipa, Peru rickwastakenDay 11 30-06-07 Check out of the Casa Andina and into the Hostel Touristico de San Blas. As we walk to the hostel. Jon sees a place to rent motorcycles, so w head back there and sign up for a tour of the Sacred Valley tomorrow. It should be interesting. We walk all over Cuzco, checking out churches and plazas, and shops. We buy some corn from a street vendor. By Iglesia de San Pedro there is a huge open air market that pretty much sells everything: clothes that ladies are making right there o...
Cuzco, Peru travel_buddy... of us so I tried to keep my spirits up but it was a strain. Thankfully our group had a solution for everything, Matt and Karolina presented me with a 5 hour energy shot, I looked at it and thought oh well, I'll give it a go.... Well done guys is all I can say and thank you so much, within minutes I was dancing, and I mean dancing, I jokingly ran past a few people in the group to demonstrate my new found energy and created a small trickle of laughter. I was now ...
Ancascocha, Cusco, Peru jamjam... 3 weeks after the fact and I still have red dots where my bites were on my ankles.
We ended the official Salkantay Trek in a town called Aguas Calliente after a 1.5 hour train ride traversing about 6km (do the math). This town was right at the base of Machu Picchu. We had our first night in a proper hotel with western style showers, a consistent supply of electricity and hot water. These are luxuries I will never again take for granted. Its always ...
Cuzco, Peru, Cusco, Peru ferrisbueller... the capital of Peru and the instant I got off the bus I wished I hadn´t left Mancora. As my friend Elio, a Lima local, informed me, the city is overcast from September to January and never rains. This made for a rather depressing few days in the capital but I did get a few good pictures of some cool sites. My favorite was the "Parque del Amor" aka "The Park of Love". The park overlooked the ocean and had tiled benches with love quotes from Latin American writers. After getting a few ...
Cusco, Peru cgomezblankEntry written by Gary Sargent, Managing Director of Escaped to Peru

No trip to Peru with www.escapedtoperu.com would be complete without sampling a glass or two of its famous national drink, Pisco Sour. And what's more, its sweet, refreshing flavor can be just the ticket for awakening the taste buds, prior to tucking into the local cuisine. For many bars across the country it holds a special place as the prize cocktail on the menu, and ...
Cusco, Cusco, Peru escapedtoperu... dancing, floats, music. Wish I could post pictures. We met a couple from London that has been traveling for the past 10 months! They went all over Asia and now they are finishing their trip with a tour of South America. Pretty neat. After we had seen enough of the parade we went to the market in Cusco. It´s huge! Row after row of people selling stacks of fruits, vegetables, grains ...
