We made it. This place is pretty cool. We only did about a third of what's here and we will have to come back. This gorge has been created over hundreds of years of erosion and is really worth the time. Need to plan for a full to 3/4 day to take all this in.

We woke this morning to a beautiful 58 degree, sunny day and were heading out to Watkins Glen State Park by 7:30. It was a nice 2 mile hike around the gorge. Very few people on the trail that early so it was a nice time to photograph the rock formations, streams, and ...

Charlene joined us there for breakfast, too. She made arrangements to meet the group after this and I left shortly afterwards to continue to Watkins Glen.

... out with four pairs of shoes, they should keep me going for a while!

I then headed up the road to a truck stop and had a shower, some dinner and headed off to meet up with Charlene. I'd phoned her that morning so she knew I was coming and she was delighted that I'd remembered her. She vaguely remembered me, too ("You write about sports or something, don't you?") and we had a good chat.
