... uns über die Feuchtgebiete. Die Landschaft war wirklich beeindruckend.

Weiter ging es zum East Point Leuchtturm. Dieser gehört zu den ältesten Leuchttürmen von P.E.I. und ist der noch einzige 'bemannte'. Ausserdem steht er am nördlichsten Punkt der Insel.

Vor dem Leuchtturm haben wir auch unseren ersten Fuchs gesehen! Fotogen war er dazu auch noch!

Montague war unser heutiges Endziel. Morgen verlassen wir die Insel und nehmen die Fähre nach Nova Scotia.

Am späteren Nachmittag sind wir im Campground angekommen und wir gingen nochmals am Strand spazieren. Die Moskitos frassen uns fast auf, dabei heisst es doch immer, die seien im Juli und August am schlimmsten.
Wir fanden am Strand viele Muscheln, welche Nataschas Sammlerherz wieder höher schlagen liessen!

... We agree these are the finest mussels either of us have tasted, far superior to our western mussels.

We all dined at the Gahan House, a microbrewery in Charlottetown on what else but mussels and seafood linguine, fabulous! Good company, good beer, good food what more is there?

We bid farewell to Ann, Rusty and Jasper after a wonderful respite and hope to see Ann again, on the west coast ...

... merkt man sofort, dass alles auf das touristische Ziel 'Anne of the Green Gables' ausgerichtet ist. Vielleicht haben ein paar von euch diese Geschichte in den Jugendjahren auch gelesen. Es steht hier ein Haus mit grünen Giebeln, das wie in der Romanhandlung eingerichtet wurde. Wir haben darauf verzichtet, es zu besuchen. Der Eintritt ist überrissen, und bieten tut es wenig. Auf jeden Fall sind die Japaner hier zahlreich vertreten. Schliesslich ist es deren 4. Lieblingsreiseziel.

Wir sind am Morgen bei starkem Regen losgefahren. Die Überholmanöver der Lastwagen und Autofahrer bei dieser schlechten Sicht waren zeitweise kriminell.
Wir hatten das Glück, dass es gegen Mittag aufgehört hat zu regnen. Vor der Confederation Bridge haben wir einen kurzen Fotostopp eingelegt. Die Brücke ist 13 km lang und verbindet New Brunswick mit Prince ...

... the Shellfish Festival was this w/e so there were tents set up with music playing and people laughing. The PEI Veterinarian school had a tank set up with various shellfish on display. There were 3 students there who enlightened us and answered our questions.

... had a great time!! Heidi ate pizza, Colette had pasta and I had a chicken parmigian no smaller that a salade bowl…no exaggeration it was ridiculous. We then went to walmart where heidi and I picked parent trap, a little girls movie and brought it home to watch. Well the person who enjoyed the movie most was…DAD!! It was crazy he was obsessed, he loved it, he smiled the whole way through. It was weird haha. We then all trailed off ...

... around here. The place is a dump, but the lady at the counter sure is nice. And she gave me a free toothpaste, which will save me a search for a drug or grocery store equivalent later. The hallway stinks. The room is broiling! WTF, am I back in LA? Called to complain, redirected the vent to dribble right on me when I'm laying in bed, took a cold shower, and ahhhh - time for that nap!

... a bike all day on the Confederation Trail, (it used to be the railroad and they ripped out the tracks) and had more delicious chowder and some good fish and chips (when I really get back I need to eat salads for two months!) I strolled and ate mussels and even tried a raw oyster which wasn't so bad. This was a good place to wind down before I hit the U.S....can't believe it has been a year!!!!

DID you know - Canada the Federation was born in Charlottetown and PEI was not one of the provences at the beginning...... Well PEI is most famous for someone fictional - Anne of Green Gables.
