Old Leh Road Leh, Ladakh, Jammu and Kashmir, India
... pump" I was quite devastated to find out that there is no gas there, and they don't expect any tomorrow as well. There was some sort of shock there (i somehow just didn't expect the possibility of being stuck without fuel), and like a beheaded chicken I jumped on the scooter, going back home. I had some unclear hope that I'll get some petrol in one of the villages on the way to Leh, I don't know why. That hope has disappeared when I reached Khardung. No one had any petrol to sell. The ...
Nubra Valley, Jammu and Kashmir, India maxint... m meeting Victor, it's so funny to meet the same folks you saw once. The meeting place this time was a decent local eatery - "Tibetan Food" they called it, located at the main "plaza", on the second floor of some shop. We exchanged the experiences and the pictures. He has got some really interesting ones from Dha - a village to the west of Leh. We decide to go there after we return from Nubra. He proposes me to visit the local gompa in the morning to watch the morning pray.
I don't recommend it but it just happened that I did not have a choice. The shared taxi from Leh to Srinagar was a last minute thing and riding shotgun was the only option left. Thank goodness the driver was an 18-year veteran of the precarious route. The uncomfortable problem though were gears two and four, which as one can understand come dangerously close to… well you know where. So at first I would tense up, each time the stick shift came close. But after an hour or so, I ...
Today's ride was the final outbound leg and the ultimate goal of this trip, to ride over the highest motorable road in the world, The Khardung La pass (18380 ft or 5600 m), And I've done it. Yahoo. It was estimated today that there are probably less that 500 Australians who have actually achieved this goal from Delhi on motorcycles. This section was not too bad compared with what I have endured so far, mostly ...
Khardung Pass, Kashmir, India jold... on ainult kokakoolat ja Mountain Dew'd. Võtan siis viimast, et lunastada endale varjuline istumiskoht kaasapandud lõunasöögi võrra koti kergemaks söömiseks. Ümberringi lillelõhn ja vaade küla valgekslubjatud majadele. Super. Natukese aja tshillimise järel saabuvad ameerika noored ja hakkavad vahetama kogemusi küpsiste teemal. Lahkun edasi Temisgami suunas.
Proovin ühe veejoa all ...

But I just couldn't. It's not in my nature to give up. I had wanted trek in this region for years and ...

tensing of the lungs as they eke out oxygen, and there is a slight
burning sensation between breaths. In case of breathlessness, one just
has to stop moving till breathing is back to normal. A Tata Sumo was waiting for us to take us to the LEDeG hostel. After the
sting in the air, the confines of the Sumo seemed refreshingly warm. We
drove through the city and got a quick tour of the main centres before
