Stones, Italian Men, & Topless Sunbathers... Oh My

For some strange reason, the ladies decided that it was smart to leave our windows open while we slept. As a result, we woke up to the blazing Nice sun and heat. This actually proved to be great motivation for us all to hop into our bathing suits and head to the beach. We took the long route to the beach via the Monoprix grocery store where I picked up some mango, pineapple, and a croissant for breakfast. The beaches in Nice are covered in stones and topless sunbathers. Ninety percent of the ...

2 hours in Monaco

ok, it was more "collecting a new country" than being really interested in Monaco. Strange, when you go there from Nice airport by bus it costs you 18 € one way, when you go from Nice bus terminal it costs 1 € one way. Monaco is a very clean city. I have never seen so many big and expensive cars. I saw the casino and the castle. Nice, but not spectacular.

Nice

... have an amazing view from Colline du Chateau. On saturday (November 28) we had sunshine and 19 degrees (end of November) and I was even swimming in the sea (15 gegrees), on sunday, November 29 we had rain and thunderstorms so that caused a delay of the plane of three hours. Best breakfast in town you find in "Les pains a tables" close to the market. Nice is a city IŽd love to visit once a year minimum.....

Less than 4 weeks to go.....

... gesture. We can't change the world but we can change the way these children start off in life and who knows where that will lead....

It is less than 4 weeks now until I leave. There is much to do. I am trying to prepare myself for "teaching" 20 - 25 children. A bit of a challenge that. Much as I have known that I have always wanted to do something like this, now that it ...

Boring drive day so here is life in Scooby

... for 2 showers each and dish washing water. In France filling up the water tank was pretty easy and cheap (2-3 Euro) via staying in an Aire d'service. In Italy, it was not immediately obvious where we could fill up the water - a lot less signs than in France... but we have found fill up points on the highways and managed a lot more free/wild camping in Italy then we did in France... in fact we have not stayed in a designated campsite at all in Italy. Need to talk to a ...

Day Spas, 4 Stars (but no celebs) and Pebbley Bums

... other spots in Europe, here we didn't need to wear our polar fleeces...) we decided to extend our stay to include the weekend and spoilt ourselves with a stay in a 4 star hotel right near the beach! Its our first splash out since we started and would you believe it was almost in budget!!! Guess the off-season thing really applies here. Its a bit sad that we haven't come here in summer as its a bit chilly still, particularly when the sea breeze comes up. We've been very jealous of the 30 ...

Au revoir, for now, little blue 335

... often wagons.. or tiny little smart cars. We got a lot of thumbs up, the universal language for "nice ride"!

It's hard to just say "goodbye," we've become quite attached to and dependent on this automobile. So, we remember the travels and the adventures we've had: the crash-course (no pun intended) lessons on Italian, German, and French while cruising at top speeds, the eight nations we drove through, the very narrow ...

The roads of Rome in a day

... fun, and i made the whole xperience tha tmuch better.

Inbetween the colloeum and the palentine hill we had a break of an hour or so, so we had a chat in the shade. it was real hot. Liz gave me some sunscreen, lifesaver.

On the second part ohte tour, at the palentine hil, we caught up with our guide and he was on the phone, holding a water botle in the air s we could find him. Liv said "Do you reckon he gets better reception like that?" Typical lame yet ...

Last Day in Europe

... our prefunctory "Daily Facts" photo after salads and skillet tossed ravioli maison (the mushrooms are fabulous in the region) with a nice Provence wine. The Mardi Gras festivities were gearing up to crown the king that evening at the Place Massena. The waterfront was a real treat, nice smooth breezes. We made our way down the boardwalk and cut in a mile or so to the Russian Orthodox church, which was established by Czar Nicholas II in ...

Cassis and Nice.... Nice!

... Kind of makes you sick, huh? But Monocco was cool. We saw the palace, we saw Pricess Grace's tomb and Prince Ranier's as well. The boats and cars we just stupid though. It was Miami Beach times a hundred. Once we made it back to Nice, we grabbed some Chinese food. Chinese food is good everywhere, just in case you were wondering.. It was a nice place, with silly decorations, and terrible music, but good food. I realized when the food came out just how up surd our ...
