I found another spot to park and went for a walk ...

... mostly pottery and statues from as far back as 10,000 years ago. At the museum I learned that Naxos has been inhabited as far back as the 10th century BC. In fact, from about 900 to 700BCE the Cycladic civilizations were enjoying their own little golden age. The then city state of Naxos had its capital at the same place as the modern Hora Naxos is today!

The good times would not last forever however, and in the 5th century the city state fell under ...

... Walked on to jetty for smaller boats. Water again crystal clear -saw fish of different sizes in the water. Some good views of old parts of Chorah from the port area.

Decided on lunch but no dinner tonight. Found water front tavern with lunch specials. Cheryl had chicken and I had my last meal of genuine Greek kalamari. Bread, salad and chips certainly satisfied any hunger we had. Complementary white wine went down well.
