... and it was dry and silent. The guards let me go all the way up to the entrance, which was normally only allowed if you were visiting an inmate. It helped I was English. It was still a little scary though. There are 3200 inmates in there today.

... gave us time to process all that we had seen and learned. My impressions of dad and the work he did for so many years gained in esteem during that short time. He became my hero. He would have been proud.

Old Sacramento wasn't going anywhere and so it went onto our bucket list for places to see another time and we pressed on to meet our goal of Raleigh for Thanksgiving.
