Back to Crazy Town (HCMC)

WE LOVE SAIGON! This place is so crazy. The atmosphere is energizing. The vendors are fun to spar with and I normally HATE dickering. One guy scared the crappola out of me when he yelled "TEN DOLLAH" in my ear. Turns out he was trying to sell sunglasses. We ran into him several times during the day. He thought scaring me was a fun thing to do and …

Wow. That was a brutally long flight(s) but the seats were quite comfy and each seat had a tv so that made the time go by faster. we made our connection in hong kong with no problems.

We had arranged through the hotel to have someone pick us up at the airport but I guess they forgot so that took a bit of finagling to get a cab and to find …

We had some wheat bix for breakfast in our room (Leigh found some in a grocery store a while back) then went around the corner to our tour place to catch the bus.
The bus was full of asians but to our suprise they all turned out to Australian. Ha ha! Our guide had a microphone and chatted away about the city and politics as we went. Very …

We slept in, walked around the city. Found the markets and I bought some **** for our beautiful relatives back home. We bought a very pretty chess board made from bone and buffalo horn. We went and sat in the park and played chess, a lady came along and gave me a manicure for $2 and painted my nails bright green at my request. We went to a very …

They’ve really streamlined the process of getting from Phnom Penh to Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) since I was there seven years ago. Back then it meant catching a bus in Cambodia to the border, crossing on foot while waiting in line for an hour in the blazing sun, and then getting bullied into a minibus on the Vietnam side for a harrowing, full …

We loved this spot. Clean, pretty quiet by the standards of the street and the lady running the place was exceptionally kind.

We loved our stay at the Happy Inn. Everything was exactly as described on the website - no surprises. Mrs. Thi shook her head at our itinerary and told us to contact her next time and she would save us much time and money. The location is great - very central. There must be a thousand restaurants within a few square blocks. The few that we were able to try were really good. We would most definitely stay there again. We got the VIP room with a terrace which was great but I'm sure any of the rooms would have been fine.
