Day two in Shrewsbury was a little more laid back. Into Rutland we headed for supplies returning home by a different route to see more of the countryside. Yummy corn on the cob was for lunch followed by a restful afternoon around the farm, including the picking of apples for the up-coming cider brewing.
We finished the day with another marvellous feast prepared by John. A good time was had by all.
So, after our morning walk to Emerald Lake we headed north and east to Woodstock. Brenda was keen (not VT) to get some real, farm made maple syrup and cheese. Once we got out of there we headed to route 91 to move faster to the hotel destination. So, we had gone for miles without seeing anything until we turned off to Hanover. Waking early is good. Waking early to clear skies and having people to forcefully wake up under threat of eating all the food is great. I did just such this morning, and we had a lively breakfast and left camp by 10am. Not bad! The day promised to be hot, so rather than overheat in the midday sun, we thought it best to stop at a brewery for a couple hours in the middle of the day. We were drinking before noon and kept at it just before biking would have been dangerous, then ...
I leave for Vienna in two days, and I think it's safe to say that i am basically done packing. The only things that still need to be packed are a dress my mom is altering, some toiletries, and my carry-on bag.
I'm a big messy mixture of excitement and nervousness right now. Which I suppose is normal, but is making everything kind of stressful. I'm sure everything will be fine ...
