    ... we changed our plans and went east towards Somerset. We were on Highway 21 but later we turned onto smaller roads which were still called highways. Highway 653 did not even have a middle line!

    ... village or fort. There’s an excellent indoor display and one of the outside buildings houses the actual first hole that was drilled (69.5’) where they struck oil. The building is an exact replica and the equipment inside is all operational, including a pipe that still brings up oil. The hole has been dry for years but they keep recycling some oil as a demonstration. It didn’t start raining until I was ready to leave.
