... could tell it had been built specifically for tourists and it seemed very fake, especially after a genuine tibetan town like Litang. Still, it was nice being in a place that has cafes and bars, even if they were all empty due to it being low season. We spent three days here and didn't do much, although on the second day we went out to a lake near the town where they charge you 40Y to walk around muddy fields ...

... the road sides are colored spectacularly: blue, green, pink, red... Oh, and I haven't mentioned the snow capped peaks overlooking everything, everywhere you go. Simply stunning. Shangri-la, paradise, whatever you want to call it. Beauty less tamed than anywhere else we'd been so far, and just a glimpse into the Tibetan world. What a shame to have to miss it, and praying beyond prayers, to be able to experience it, if not now, somewhere down the road on our as-yet premature journey.

It hurt a little bit, but at least it wasn't too long a climb and the views from the top were remarkable.
