... is carved, the floors are tiled--it is ornate and overwhelming, and surprisingly cramped. Truthfully, it didn't feel very livable; in fact, Ludwig only lived there a total of 177 days. He was rather solitary, and the castle shows that. We started the walk down, walking sticks in hand, but after climbing and descending hundreds of stairs in the castle, our knees were not happy with us. The lush green grass, the Austrian Alps with their first dusting of snow on them, the rivers and streams with their unique colour of greeny blue caused by the limestone in the rocks, the Austrian/German style of housing all make this area so beautiful. We will surely come this way again. We ...

So we spent a while there as Treas sampled everything, and bought virtually nothing, and then did a general wander around the old town which has a quite a nice feel to it, and parts date back to the 1500s. Will post this now while I still have good wifi, and try to come back to it ...
