... glimpses of the great views back over the city toward to the west. There was a surprising amount of construction going on in these 'established' suburbs. The wealthy buy $10m houses, demolish them and build $20m ones. Huge houses with million $ views. In one street we came across a tree down over the road and we had to detour through someones drive. Just to make the day a little interesting we had to change rooms at 11pm because the toilet decided to flood, dad was our hero.

Wednesday Mum and Dad allowed us to have the day off, we went to the outlet store shopping, it was stinking hot. We came home had a swim watched a little TV and went to dinner again at JT Schmid's

... a stroll down to Venice proper but not much was open at 9.30am. Got back to apartment and slept for 4 hours. Even more stalls in the afternoon, lots of live music - very cool atmosphere. Can't believe we are finally in America and it feels like a cross between Coolangatta and Byron Bay! In the winter. Went for a walk towards Santa Monica to find groceries and bought wine to drink on rooftop terrace. Lovely ...
