Business

Enjoyed our meetings and colleagues. Went to dinner at a typical Guangdong/Canton restaurant. Menu was very creative. Plenty of exotics - baby pigeon, sting ray, fish guts, beetles, snakes, chicken feet. Was a bit naseous, but likely because of jet lag.

The men in white suits....

Guangzhou was thankfully pretty uneventful except for this one little episode I thought I'd share...

Because of the 'swine flu' or H1N1 virus most of the border control areas scan your body as you walk through with your passport. Patches Of Green & Slow Death By Incense

... between. After looking at my map I decided to use the very small patches of green as the day's different destinations and that way I would get to see parts of the city most would never think of visiting. The small green patches are simply small local parks and there isn't much to see in any of them except for the cities elderly playing Chinese Chess or singing Karaoke. I ...

Cheap shopping in China

A high speed train back onto the Chinese mainland and we were ready for our onward journey into Vietnam. Guangzhou was a day stop over point to catch an overnight train to Nanning. If you want cheap knock off goods.......try your luck here before heading into HK. It's a lot cheaper and in a way more fun bargaining away.

... s real. Anyway, we declined to change our lovely bona fide money for toilet paper. In the evening, our friend Vitaly arrived from Hong Kong. There'd been a communication problem as we were texting him to find out when he would arrive, he got those, he replied by text, but we never received them. Anyway, we managed to get an extra bed in the room which was cool. We then went for a walk around Shamian Dao to show him around a bit, and then for a drink.
