    ... we can add to the blog during and after our trip.

    As regards our Romanian holiday we have booked our accommodation, a real mixture of smart(ish) hotels, wayside B&Bs and self catering. We have the outline of a route-around 4000 kms in total taking us over the Transalpina and the Transfagarasan via a few castles all the way to the Danube Delta on the Black Sea and back via the Iron Gate Gorge,Belgrade and Zargreb.

  • They call them "toilets" not "restrooms".
  • Sparkling water and paprika chips are pretty big here. Whenever I order water, I have to specify that I want it still and I made the mistake of buying sparkling water at a grocery store that we went to. I'm not sure if paprika chips are big in all the countries, but I've seen ...

    Which I did in the first week. Some via Facebook may have heard about Dubrovnik but I have now time to tell about how wonderful it was. A long flight , adjusted to heat, had a day with two others before the large group arrived from Turkey.     Up early today for a an Amazing drive up into the Austrian alps. We all got pretty excited as we started to spy snow topped mountains and alpine ski resorts etc. We found our hotel - really cute and headed straight out for a drive in the mountains.
