... small trenches around each encampment. Another fascinating insight into the diversity that is the European Comminity.
The beach was lovely with fine golden sand and huge dead jellyfish. We sat and drank beer and watched the sunset and only laughed a little when we thought of family and friends in the cold wet November days at home. The security at the campsite was interesting in that both of us and the car ...
... I talk briefly with a receptionist in a Best Western hotel. She's actually quite interested to hear my story, and takes my email in case she knows anyone that needs a bit of work done in exchange for room and board. This is the only beacon of hope, in an otherwise very bleak situation.
I eventually find the Youth Hostel, and thoroughly abuse their complimentary internet service. We'll see what tomorrow holds.
... it was pretty tame until one of the toreadors almost got trampled by one of the bulls, the dude was lucky they dulled the tip of the bulls horns.

... about perfect and the most direct. QF9 Mel to Lon, then switching airports in London to catch BA2694 to Faro), and the timings meant we missed a lot of the crowds and traffic, particularly in London - so well done to Yvonne who pulled together our travel arrangements.
There were a few things we had to watch along the way - mainly in London, for instance, there is now a shuttle bus service that runs between London Heathrow and Gatwick airports (so no longer a ...
... to make the (rather optimistic) 1km from the station seem like 5km. Finally we reached the end of a dusty road were our 4 star, 2 pool, 2 bar, 55 Euro bargain sat in all its air-conditioned glory. Whilst not exactly oozing charm, it was certainly good value. We're only here for the sea sand and Sagres afterall.
Tavira, a resort town, with a certain charm, a hint of Spanish chav and a short boat ride to the beach to dissuade the properly ...
... discovering a gem of a local restuarant with amazing bbq chicken. 6 euro for dinner!!
The next day to fill in time before departing we looked at the Chapel of Bones, which was built from the bones of the monks from the local cemetary. Over 1200 skulls. Definite goosebumps eh!
... don't go up so that you can actually lie down. Though it was hard as a rock, with the help of two adavans I was out like a light and slept for nine hours. Funnily, it was the best sleep I've had in awhile. So Portugal, what to say about that lovely little slice of the world? It was great. We spent a lot of time on the beach which was fine by me. For the first few days after Kathy arrived we did a little sight seeing. We went into Lisbon, saw the big church of Fatima ...
The Algarve, Portugal jeschillAlgave area. Faro, Silves, Tavira etc All very Mediterranean, (how strange a statement is that) but the architecture is all the same, no variations at all. It reminds me very much of Vietnam, I wonder if that is the French influence or which way round who influenced who. The doors of Tavira are fascinating! We purchased a collage to bring home they are wonderful and provide the only variation in ...
Faro, Silves, etc, Portugal emvy.hobbsWe arrived in Armacao de Pera on 21 March and found a really good site. Oh, what a lovely shower!! The weather has finally broken and I am already finding it difficult to stay in the sun. Rocky just goes browner by the day. I got sunburnt last week, I am nearly out of P20 sunblock, we have desparately been trying to buy some here but no success as yet. We have done a bit of travelling whilst we have ...
Armacao de Pera (Faro), Portugal lizpWe stopped again in Faro, and had planned to have a good look around and possibly stay the night. The main beach, Praia De Faro, was beautiful, and I really wanted to go swimming but it was still a bit fresh. We were down to short sleeves and three-quarter pants though, so that was much better than London! Unfortunately, we found it a bit commercial for our liking.
