A Deep Breath And A Big Leap

A travel blog entry by windinthetrees on Jun 07, 2015

... a turn toward musings. "Dad, if you were 40 and had nothing holding you back, where would you travel?" With no hesitation, he said, "I'd dangle my legs over the edge of the Grand Canyon. I never had a chance to do that." And without really thinking, I replied. "How 'bout I do it for you?" "Great", he said with a little smirk and a fever-stoked twinkle in his eye. "I will do my best not to die while ...

    Another day of skiing!

A travel blog entry by matt-hryniewicz on Mar 01, 2015

Went skiing with the Reidy's and their cousins. Jay Peak is definitely a must on a skiers list. Some sweet glade skiing for novices. Packed powder. 25 degrees. Barely a breeze. It’s clean at least and we are in room 2 at the top of the stairs from the lobby so that is ...

... is a strange ruined fence to welcome us back to our country after customs. It was almost embarrassing to think that is how the USA presents itself to visitors and their own. However, the spectacular Lake Champlain in front of us caused a sigh and acceptance that we truly have a beautiful country.
While in route Mickey called Gaines marina to inquire about diesel, dockage for the night ...

Checking Out the Vermonster at Ben & Jerry's

... side trip 10 miles south of town -- to Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream factory in Waterbury, Vermont. Lifelong friends Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield (my people!) completed a correspondence course on ice cream making in 1977, and the following year with a $12,000 investment, they opened an ice cream parlor in a renovated gas station in Burlington, Vermont. The rest, apparently, is sweet history. Can we buy you a cone? Click here to choose a flavor. ...
