Rua Boa Vista Barreirinhas, State of Maranhao, Brazil, 65590-000, 98)3349-0288-/-(98)9125-2860-
Our long journey started shortly after breakfast, where we had chatted to and exchanged travel stories with a middle-aged Belgian couple, the first step was taking a 4WD vehicle from Taraipa to the small village of Paulinho Neves, which due to the bad state of the unpaved road can only be reached by a suitable vehcile with our backpacks lashed to the roof of the bus by ourselves ( not the driver) we set off along the bumpy road passing through small and sleepy rural ...
Barreirinhas, State of Maranhao, Brazil jon-daniellaWay back in July, on the way back from a climb in Bolivia, Chris and I met a Brazilian guy from Sao Paulo, who highly recommended we visit a national park in the north-east of his country. We exhanged email addresses and a few months ago I contacted him again to clarify exactly where he was recommending. He detailed a journey from Barrierinhas to Jericoacoara, involving a few stops along the way including the ...

Barreirinhas, State of Maranhao, Brazil tom_kurtz... excursions with the company. After a relaxing lunch at a local bar (note: it is always cheaper to find a side street bar to eat at then to get ripped off at the main street tourist restaurants.) We were picked up in a giant dune buggy at our pousada for our first excursion. The buggy took us on a 45 minute bumpy ride on an all sand ...
Barreirinhas, Brazil ruggersinbrazil... I got an egg soup! Everyone knows how I feel about egg! Anyway, the soup was good, just without the egg, it was like a spicy noodle soup in Asia - except without noodles - I got a bread roll (I can say that) and a can of coke and slice of cake - all in all it was an ok meal. The tour was with loads of people (no English speakers) we had another Rough 4x4 journey into Parque Nacional dos Len´çois Maranhenes - a park with loads of sand dunes and for 6 months of the year ...
Barreirinhas, Brazil stuboThe bus to Paulino Neves was nice and short but the two little kids infront of me ensured it pass SO SLOWLY! They kept singing, talking to me, not grasping the fact I couldnt understand them. We sang Jingle Bells in our 2 different languages and one of the kids was amazed I knew who Spiderman was (I think he as a bit of a fan ...

Barreirinhas, Brazil koutinka... around the first lake and onto the next one where we swam for a while which was amazing. Carried onto the fish lake where there are apparently big fish but we still swam anyway - was v hot and no shade! Carried on back to the big dunes at the start and sat and watched the brilliant orange sunset with the view. Fantastic and just what we wanted to see. Never thought it would be in Brazil though! Back to the hostel in an even more precarious ...
Barrerinhas, Lencois Marrenhense, Brazil emanddaveOhhh, my gosh. I´m a little sad, guys. You just don´t know the place I got done visiting. Why, it´s fabdabalabulous! Jericoacoara beach. (That´s its real name, I wasn´t just getting funny with the syllables that time.) It was my second-favorite Brazilian "lugar" (place) the first time I was in Brazil, and it´s just gotten better. It´s still naturally breathtaking. Jericoacoara is a village of 1300 people. It lies behind some big, rolling, pasture-green hills ...
