    ... near the support towers we were. Up on top there were fantastic views all round. Much colder than down below but incredibly fresh. On the way back to Altstätten we dropped into the traditional village of Appenzell. It is very pretty and, with the added authenticity of actually being in Switzerland, avoids the awful kitch of Washington's fake Swiss village Leavenworth (a visit back in our Seattle days).     ... pan to their stove - they were very kind and let me cook! Whilst the chicken was cooking they translated the entertainment programme for me (I understood the Pirate bit!) there is loads; mask making, 'tattoos'! and tractor rides, romantic music, various hikes and trips up hills.     Quite by accident we found the Milka factory in the next town. It houses a small museum dedicated to Mr Suchard and explains how they make the chocolate and the different jobs in the factory.     ... They seem a happy bunch! And, boy, their country is beautiful! And, they're idea of 'wellness' which is the name they give to the 'spa' is so good - they have a national institution that is based around relaxing - clever folks, no wonder they're chilled.
