... We made a quick pitstop to the town of Interlarken which did nothing to change our minds. Lots of shops selling every conceivable brand of Swiss watch. By a stroke of good luck our next destination took us to what we considered to be the real Switzerland, some spectacular scenery in the mountains. We randomly picked a road on the map and found ourselves following the most gorgeous mountain road. It had sweeping bends and some switchbacks and ...

... through the delightful villages of Linthal and Schwanden. After a leg stretch in the charming town of Glarus, we made our way up a wonderful little road to Filzbach, high above a spectacular lake called the Walensee. We encountered heavy bicycle traffic for a race over two of the passes. The congestion compounded by tons of motorcycles making the most of the twisting hairpins, and your usual tour buses. We stopped for lunch at Belvedere, near the Furka, above the amazing serpentine road that climbs ...

Today we rode through what could have been the inspiration for those wonderful Hornby Model Train scenes - you know the ones - distant snow capped mountains, quaint villages nestled by the lake, green fields spotted with barns and gorgeous houses, rivers and bridges and lots and lots of trains! Unlike the Hornby scenes our journey included the smell of barn held cattle - phew what a stench! Our guide book said to follow 'Cycle Route 32' out of town. The challenge was finding any ...
