Four weeks
Just four weeks to go and I just want to be settled on board with the real world, and Christmas , left behind. I still need to order money and am checking the exchange rates daily its still going up so hang on. If it starts to go down then I buy before it looses any more. What can I give this Christmas?
This year 6,657 Christmas shoeboxes were donated to The Trussell Trust for distribution in Bulgaria. This is another record and a reminder that there are a lot of you out there that really care about others much less fortunate than yourselves. If the children and adults who will receive the presents this year were able, they'd say a huge thank you to everybody who gave shoeboxes or their time to help sort them. It's really good ...
The last day
... was something going on above the hotel. A sprint out the way and a look up revealed two guys hanging off the roof on the guttering breaking off ice, big chunks of which were crashing down! Just check the photos out! So the final hour's before leaving for the airport was an opportunity to do a bit of shopping for some presents and things to bring home. Followed by a lunch with a last vodka (umm..nice) and back to the hotel to get ...
Eye to eye with a bald eagle
... birds - sea eagle, merlin and black kites.
Finally back to Wyke farm to have chilli and a warm up.
Decided to keep the heating on all night! Not a good move - too hot at 0130 and had to get out of bed to turn it off.
I will learn how to set the timer on the heating - but can only do one thing at a time. The booklet that comes with the van covers everything - the info is about 6 inches thick!

Winchester and Salisbury
Quick breakfast at YHA before everything was packed away. Left for Heathrow to collect the car from Sixt — a Vauxhall Meriva. Pete is the driver, being the only one who could drive a manual. First stop was Winchester. We parked near Wolvesey castle's ruins, next to Winchester College. Walked to Winchester Cathedral where there was a busy Christmas market. Had a mine pie and coffee, although, initially unbeknownst to me, the mince pie was a sweet and small Christmas fruit ...
