20 Aug. A lazy day, weather a bit cloudy but still very, very warm. After breakfast we picked up our passports, and rebooked a tour of Sorrento. Then I attended two more lectures, the first, “Behind the Mask” an insight into the success of The Phantom of the Opera was given by a Julian Woolford, and the second by Capt Kim Sharman on how the Royal Navy inadvertently helped Japan plan the attack on Pearl Harbour, Japan using the plan used by the RN on their attack on ...

Determined to see them before we left we finally ...

This is flat out the single most impressive place that I have visited...and a huge incentive to continue saving for retirement!

SCHIFF FAST FACT - Steinbeck quoted in Harper's Bazaar in 1953: "Positano bites deep. It is a dream place that isn't quite ...

The ruins of Pompeii

A travel blog entry by shaeshae88 on Jul 31, 2013

... It would of been awesome if we could of climbed the still active volcano but unfortunately it wasn't part of the tour. Once it was all over we tipped our guide and then checked out some of the market stalls in the area. There were lots of different souvenirs with the most iconic being a penis with wings. Elke bought a small ceramic one as a gift for one of her friends. I wanted the playing cards depicting artwork from the brothels but the guy wanted 6€ which is about $11 so I ...
