For three nights we stayed in Jerba, a small island off the northeast coast of Tunisia. Jerba is a tourist-populated resort island with flat, dirt-laden terrain pocked by cacti and shrubs. Apparently, the beaches are popular with the Euros during the summer. But after staying there for three days, I just didn't get it.



The resort was a nice enough place to stay, but I don’t see the attraction. ...

Heading south we decided to go to Jerba, as it is renowned for the beaches!

After Mahdia, Jerba was our next stop, apparently the most popular part of Tunisia according to the Lonely Planet. We spent out first night just outside Houmt Souk, the accommodation was OK, except that Petra found a mouse in her rucksack, and just about woke up the whole hotel with her shriek! It was just a small field mouse!!

The island was pleasant, but I must admit, it would be far better ...

Djerba is North Africa's biggest island and a very popular tourist destination. It is said that Homer described it as "the island of 10000 palms.
