... eating an early lunch, as most places had finished serving breakfast. We then headed back to our hotel to check in, shower and get some washing done. The latter was kind of cool ... We took our washing to a laundry service, where for 40 baht ($1.50), they would wash 1 kg of clothes and we could collect them first thing in the morning. ... swapping shoes so we could all take in the view! After bidding farewell to Liz who was homeward bound, and Ella who is currently travelling Myanmar on her own, me and Alice transferred to our 4* hotel. The pandemonium taking place all around reminds you that you're just a tiny speck in the big scheme of things - and if you were to disappear amongst the chaos it's unlikely anybody would even notice. The air is thick with exhaust fumes and the aroma of sizzling chicken skewers from the food stalls on the roadsides. There is a constant buzz of tuk-tuks performing ...

... most detailed architecture I have ever seen. It was indescribable the amount of work that went into this building; each millimetre was covered in gold Buddha depictions and inscribing work that fills you with wonder. The steps up to the first and second levels were so high that we pretty much had to pull ourselves up using the bannister and precarious is an understatement for the way down! We returned back to the boat rather sad as we were only allowed 20 minutes here and we would ...
