What the hell did I just do????
I started @ 8 am with 17 other hikers. GORGEOUS hike out from Idyllwild. but very steep. Mount San Jacinto summit climb today. first time above 10,000ft!!!! I liked this challenge, it was far different from anything the low desert could offer. I was super excited to battle this hike, push myself and see what I can handle. While ...

... morning, we rolled out and got all that dog stuff back into the van and headed south. Wonderful Aunt Jane sent us home with frozen containers of homemade vegetable beef soup, salad fixings, and other sundries too numerous to mention. Stay tuned for a wrap up over the next ...

... in town as far as I'm concerned. We got a two night stay in a single room for a very fair pct discount price and she even did our laundry for us. If that wasn't enough already, she is actually driving us back out to the trailhead Tuesday morning so we can continue on our trek. We really like this town a lot and are quickly realizing first hand the magnitude of these hiker town vortexes. They will keep you as long as you let them, but we still have restless bones and know we must move ...

... happy that we didn’t lose any shrubs or trees over the summer. Apparently, there were 126 days over 100 degrees (about 35 degrees Celsius) this summer – and so a sprinkler failure has dramatic consequences. We had one flat tire and one flat battery – problems that are easy to fix. Thelma went to the post office and picked up our mail that was being held, so now I will have to sort out several weeks of bills!

    So, our reflections ...
