... family photo, and off we drove. We stopped at the antique malls that beckoned along the way and arrived at the home of good friends Joel and Noreen Rosenblatt in the late afternoon. They moved from Londonderry to be nearer their daughter and son-in-law and seem well settled in their new community. Yesterday we all set off on the Underground to the JFK Library and Museum. A truly inspirational museum with original speeches and interviews with that extraordinary man plus dresses Jacqui wore and presents they were given by Heads of State. Rick and Vreni went off from there to do some last minute shopping and we went down to the site of The Boston Tea Party to look at the ships which brought tea out from India for the British, then decided we ...

... see us. Subordinate staff are brought in and line the walls, shy and painfully nervous, waiting to be introduced in a language that is not their first. A table is assembled, a feast is laid out, and our importance is verified. It’s pretty easy to imagine that we are special, and that we have something special to offer. But sitting here a day later, in my hotel, I have to conclude that I have received much more than our hosts; and ...
