hard to avoid and most of the coral completely dead, which is what idiot’s
standing on it will do and nothing notable fish-wise either, but was at least
good exercise. Left my stuff with a little old lady saying I’d be ½ an hour and
when I got back she had gone but luckily my stuff was still there.
After a prolonged shopping trip to town, siesta’d then headed
towards the “pontal” but stopped for far longer than anticipated with Lorena, the
lovely helpful English-speaking Italian lady I met earlier this week. Had a
good old chat, swapped some books, got ...
... dull, except the
music blasting from the sound system – even though the stops were bad, was
tempted to get off just to escape the racket. The 3 hours on the beach, even
the rain, were a relief. No point getting off on the sandbar – it was full with an ice cream vendor – there is no escape from them!
Was a nice quiet bus ...
... happy not to be staying there as very touristy but did find some decent beer at
least and bussed back.
Went south along the beach to the river to do the
objectionable activity of taking a jangada up the mangroves, being poled along,
so the boatman could manhandle seahorses to the waiting punters, put in a glass
jar for display. Understandably they didn’t look comfortable with the whole
experience and the little sky blue sea cucumber was squirting ink too.
... of places but luckily Lorraine, a helpful English woman pointed me in the direction of couple of cheaper places and swapped some books too.
Sergio’s place came good and got a lovely seaview balcony with hammock room for 100 and value for money despite the warm fridge, elephants upstairs and hard bed.
