I woke up in the morning in Cobram to some distant clouds gathering on the horizon, which I felt held potential, but no great promise, so I continued to pray for rain throughout the day. In the afternoon, as I drove east, I watched the growing size and darkness of the storm clouds moving in. In the evening, I got to Kosciusko National Park, hurried through setting up ...

... the free BBQ's weren't working but James went back and got the one from the camp so we still Barbequed! At night we came back and lit a big fire (in a metal barrel so as not to start any fires!) and sat round it for ages which was a great laugh, believe it or not its actually getting quite cold in the evenings as the Australian Autumn is slowly starting to creep up on us. I guess now that there are more people he has to repeat some of the meals...every morning we get a cooked breakfast and cereal, and in the afternoon our sandwiches are delivered to the orchard. It has been hotter here than Brisbane!!! The trip down was uneventful and really rather boring. THe first night we stayed at Moree and had a swim in the artesian pool at the motel. We wish we had stayed at one of the others though as there was a wedding on and from about midnight until 3am there was a group of people standing outside out room talking loudly and we didn't get much sleep. We did eventually ...

... toilets. Tony allowed Darcy to have a drive of the quad bike and he handled it well. Guy naturally wanted to have a drive and he started by himself and turned out to be a bit heavy on the accelerator. After a bit of practice, Guy was driving with Tony and Darcy on the back. On a change of gear, Guy gave it a bit too much gas and Darcy fell off! We went to check out the sheep in the lucerne paddock and we found a dead sheep that had been mauled by some wild dogs. A job for Tony to ...

We spent a couple of days on the net and the phone and colette spent a lot of time pestering a hostel called emerald backpackers and a bloke named Justin. Well this eventually paid off when he found us a couple of beds at the hostel. This was good, because from the hostel Justin helped to find backpacers ...
