        ... not sure why these small towns exist. We are here because they have a motel - admittedly it is not in the town, if you can call it a town centre. However next to the motel there is a Yankee Candle - it is huge - a candle, Christmas, homeware store - they give you a map to find your way around. They even have a restaurant and that is where we had diner - it was great food - they had jazz musicians - and we even received a candle - what more could you want. Mileage: 165 ...

        His take on our stay in Manchester Center:

        A wonderful location with trees turning to beautiful colours (colors) and some nice restaurants with less challenging American accents. We attended the Orvis Fly Fishing 2 day school at Orvis Headquarters. The building is itself very appealing and situated beside its' own casting ponds filled with rainbow trout to bring realism to outdoor practice sessions. ...

Seems like the park does get some visitors as their are 'black bear' signs posted telling folks not to leave out food/secure any garbage receptacles....yikes!!!         ... The trail itself, about 63 miles, travels through the scenic wilderness of the Berkshire Hills and the seasonal beauty of the Connecticut Valley.
