      One Last Peep

We woke up to sunshine which was the first we had seen in days so I was sort of feeling torn between racing home or spending a few moments checking out the Lake. We asked for some suggestions from the front desk and got a great tip to take the scenic drive up Prospect Mountain which was literally a few blocks away. The drive cost $10 but had several view points out over the lake ...

This morning we left Smuggs. I have to tell you I didn't care for this town. Mom was fine with it and the advantage was the gorgeous Smuggler’s Notch but I wish I would have just paid the extra money and stayed in Stowe. It was raining slightly as we packed to leave. Mom was dilly dallying and so I managed to load my stuff in the car before the rain picked up. I kept locking myself out of the Inn. Apparently in the mornings the back door is locked and I ...

... of stunning mountains in the process of their fall color change.

Just prior to Indian Lake, we embark upon a trail to the highest waterfall in the Adirondacks - OK Slip Falls. This is a new trail which we’re told will become one of the more popular destination hikes. We are not sure when and if that will happen given that the trail begins as a mucky mess that Casey calls major “Boggy”. In researching this particular hike, ...

      Ticonderoga (52 miles)

A travel blog entry by vagabondlively on Aug 26, 2014

I got up early to leave before Patrick, but he chose this day to get up on time and pack up fast. He ended up leaving before me towards the main camp with the trash, and we said our goodbyes. I felt like I could breath again. The Adirondacks are not as bad as the Rockies were, but I lost my climbing muscles somewhere between Missouri and Ohio. I'm hurting pretty bad. It was a beautiful, peaceful ...

We had to take the hike up Prospect Mountain. It was almost 2 miles to the top and it was a hike straight up! It was a great hike and once at the top the views were fantastic. On a real clear day they say you can see a 100 miles. It wasn't that clear but we could see pretty good. We thought the only way up was to hike but found a big parking lot at the top. We are glad we did the hike ...
