... the guests are regulars and the location is perfect. Two minute walk to beach and five minute walk to Carmel. Carmel is a lovely town, beautifully kept, great selection of shops and an amazing variety of restaurants. The beach in front of the hotel it stunningly beautiful. We went down one evening and the beach was full of people exercising their dogs. Carmel beach is one of the few beaches in California, where dogs are permitted to be off their leads and ...

Bike Trip (Day 12) San Fran to Monterey

... the entire bridge, but obviously with the fog we saw nothing. Which means in the 3 days that we spent in San Fran we did not see the complete bridge at all! The amazing highway that everyone had raved to us about, well today was just another road we had to ride to get somewhere warm. Really having a chance to unwind today and do nothing ...

Unfortunately he didn't want to play ball, but we saw lots of humpback whales, dolphins and a Leatherback turtle which is the biggest (6ft long) and most endangered (only 600 left) in the world. It was ...

Farewell Frisco Hello Monterey

A travel blog entry by debbiemcampbell

... It was mostly freeway driving all the way to Monterey down the US101. Pretty boring driving for Deb I expect. Our room wasn't ready when we arrived at the hotel so we went down to Cannery Row, which the seafront area where the now defunct sardine canning industry used to be based, but is currently reinventing itself as dining, shopping, and nightlife centre of town. We walked around browsing in some shops (tasted free samples of local infused olive oils ...
