Lots of wineries in the Applegate Valley by Grants Pass and Jacksonville. But, it's time to scratch the home ...

... visible in the peeling paint. The town has turned itself over almost completely to tourism. There are a 3 or 4 museums: school house, Mark Twain’s journalism office, firefighters, and mining. And of course, there were several casinos. The rest of the buildings house tourist "shops": leather, jewelry, western clothing, and junk.
