... off the edge, but not going to help a stray bike! Some of the drop offs were quite hairy too! Fortunately, the views were incredible. We could see in the distance the switchbacks up to Oberalppass, the green mountains, the snow on the peaks above, and the clouds gathering around them. We even saw a steam train pass through the valley below! At the top of Furkapass, we were higher than any point in Australia. Woot! The descent from Furkapass ...

idea since if we could not see anything having lunch up made up –sort of- for

    the next train back. ...

... top (which is mostly through tunnel blasted through the mountain). The Jungfraubahn had its 100th year of operation last year. All this takes about 2.5 hours, and with all the recent snow, we shared the trains (except the Jungfraubahn) with a lot of skiers. There are numerous small villages and hotels etc at various stops on the way up, and what seemed to be heaps of ski areas. Once at the top, there are quite a few different things to see. There is a high altitude research ...

... From there we walked to the other side of town where the cable car took us down to Gimmelwald and then over a sheer cliff back to the Lauterbrunnen Valley.

Once on the valley floor the boys found a natural spring fountain and spent a lot of time playing in it. We walked along the trail, past numerous waterfalls (there are 72 in the valley), back to the Hotel. I think it took us around 2.5 hours to walk back, so ...
