Following the meeting - after a great show and tell - I did a short interview with Gloria whose work I admire greatly. A blog post will appear shortly over on, my art blog. It has been a challenge to keep two blogs up to date on this trip!

Arriving in Swartz Bay at about 2:45 we cycled a short 15 km in a steady wind and a feeling of rain in the air. Our third try at a hotel, found us at the Western 66, a friendly, family owned place that allowed cyclists a great ...

... tasting of 3 whites & 1 red! Asked I found that 4 main varietals grown: Ortega, Bacchus, Pinot Gris, & Marechal Foch. Marechal Foch tastes like an alte adage with something light & peppery but mellower than Pinot noir - nice. Ortega light fruity but drier than most albarinos I've had - refreshing & unique. White in stainless steel vats, red in oak. Finished testing with most unfortunately dumped (I'm driving 1 mile to ferry then onto vessel you know), ...
